Nazol is a synthetic steroid with anti-gonadotropic and anti-estrogenic activities that act on the anterior pituitary to suppress the output of gonadotropins. It is used in the treatment of endometriosis, fibrocystic breast disease, and hereditary angioedema. For the treatment of endometriosis and fibrocystic breast disease it works by decreasing the amount of hormone made by the ovaries which worsens the disease and for the treatment of angioedema it works by increasing certain proteins in the body defense system.
